Workshop on UX Design and Design Thinking organized at Chitkara University Baddi

Department of Computer Science & Engineering and CSI organized a 1-day workshop on UX Design and Design Thinking on 1st March 2019. Resource person of the workshop was Mr Abhayjeet Singh, Director – Imaginext. 30 CSE students and faculty attended the workshop. ImaginXP is a curriculum and certification organization in UX design and Design Thinking. The following topics were discussed during the day: Morning Schedule: 9:00 Am-12: 00 PM • Understanding User Needs • Need finding • Contextual Inquiry • Refine User Needs • How User Needs Inform UI Design • “How Might We” Statements • Incorporating User Research • Understanding Tasks • Simple UI Mockups & Prototypes Evening Schedule: 1:00 PM- 4:00 PM • Incorporating UI Elements • Combining Tasks into a cohesive design • Common “visual affordances” • UI Design Trends and Best Practices • Evaluating Interfaces • Making it all look good Color • Typography • Whitespace/content balance/clarity • Branding • Visual Hierarchy and how the eye accepts information The students have benefited with the workshop with the learning of various concepts of user inquiry, rapid prototyping, understanding user tasks, interface design and principles of visual design.
