Expert Talk on Train Yourself to Get Hired organized at Chitkara University Baddi

Department of CSE and Computer Society of India organized an expert talk by Mr Viney Khurana, Director, Cosmic Ray Chemicals Private Limited, on 13 February 2019. He delivered a motivational session and importance of start-ups to 150 students of 2017 batch. He motivated the students about their future placement activities. He told the students about the criteria adopted for selecting candidates in most companies are variable in nature. Many companies evaluate based on the academic performance of the candidate and place requirements for minimum marks. He told students that in terms of strategies, one of the best ways to build your business is to take that idea in your head to market as soon as possible because delays kill, speed saves. Most of the companies conduct a written test. An aptitude test is conducted, that has questions on mathematics, English & reasoning. Some companies include technical questions in the test. Most companies conduct an interview round for the candidates who qualify minimum academic performance criteria & also based on the performance in the written test. Interview round consists of separate HR & technical interviews. Few companies in addition to this conduct personality test too. Students were specifically told about the following key points: 1. Empathy: Being able to empathize with your team allows you to fully understand the problems that they face and find a way to make your project work for everyone. Suggesting new ideas is much easier when there is an understanding between members of a team that there won’t be any negative feedback or mockery, no matter how someone feels about an idea. 2. Communications: Speak clearly and with conviction, even if you’re unsure of yourself — people will pay more attention to what you say if you say it with confidence. 3. Listen: The best communicators spend as much time listening as they do talking. Don’t interrupt the person speaking. Let them say what they want to say, then chime in with your thought 4. Teamwork: No matter what you do, there will be a time when you have to work as part of a team. Overall it was a really inspiring and motivating session and did help the students to self analyze their own potentials and set the goals. Mr Shankar Aggarwal – Assistant Professor, CSE locally coordinated this expert talk.
